Course Description

Kapi`olani Community College will provide a unique 1-day culinary arts program for the Yokosuka College of Culinary & Pastry Art.  The students will learn traditional food and lifestyle of Hawaiian people and hands-on cooking of Hawaiian dishes.  This cultural and cooking hands-on workshop will help Yokosuka students extend their horizons and prepare themselves to work as chef with international perspectives. 

Course Outline

  • Introduction of Hawaiian traditional food and cooking
  • Cooking Hands-on Training

Learner Outcomes

By the end of the program, the students will be able to:

  • Define the characteristics of food material and Hawaiian cuisine
  • Prepare one item in Hawaiian cuisine
  • Compare their cuisine learned at school in Japan and that of Hawai`i
