Course Description

The Elementary Education: Multiple Subjects course is for individuals who have had challenges in passing the Praxis exam (5001, 5002, 5003, 5004, 5005). This is a self-paced online course that includes readings, online discussions, assignments, test-taking strategies, and hundreds of practice questions to prepare for the Praxis exam. The online format provides participants flexibility to work at their own pace and select content areas that are specific to their needs. Private online meetings with the instructor are available.  The course length is four weeks, however, participants will have access to the course materials for up to one year. 

Learner Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the role of phonological awareness, phonics, word analysis, and fluency in literacy development.
  2. Identify strategies to promote reading comprehension.
  3. Understand the characteristics of effective writing.
  4. Solve problems relating to numbers and operations, algebraic thinking, geometry, and measurement data.
  5. Maintain broad knowledge and competencies relating to US History, Geography, and World History.
  6. Demonstrate knowledge relating to earth science, life science, and physical science.
