Course Description

In 2011, the Institute of Medicine identified health information technology safety as a key priority for health care organizations, vendors, and governments to address. Internationally, there are efforts underway to improve the usability, quality and safety of information systems from a software design, workflow and implementation perspective. In this workshop the participants will learn about key issues associated with software usability and safety. Participants will be presented with real-world examples of software safety issues and will develop preventative approaches to ensuring health information systems usability, safety while mitigating risk.
