Course Description

The American Sign Language class series will be a blended learning environment loaded with face-to-face as well as online practicing. Instructors will lead you in exercises and conversations in the classroom, as well as show you how to use the online tools for practice at home. 

We invite all learners with all interests to attend. Whether you want the language skills for working or for communicating with a friend, this program will be perfect for you. 

Learner Outcomes

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Start and maintain conversations with Deaf members of your community
  • Use useful phrases like how to give and receive directions, and share Island information
  • Interact with members of the Deaf community

Instructor: Angie Molina was born on Oahu and raised on Kauai since twelve years old. She was born hearing and became ill at age 3 from Rubella (German Measles) which caused her became Deaf. Angie was the first Miss Deaf Hawaii, and established the first American Sign Language Club at Kauai High School. She went to Gallaudet University for short time. . She taught American Sign Language at Guam Community College and also for Kauai Academy of Arts . She has been teaching American Sign Language to the Deaf and Hearing community over 25 years. Angie also establish Deaf and Hearing gathering potluck every two months to welcome Hearing and Deaf friends to communicate with their hands. She is also on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Advisory Board.
