Course Description

This 8-week training will provide introductory skills for entry level Dental Assisting positions. The course utilizes lecture, labs, exams and clinical rotation experiences to teach, assess, and evaluate learning. Certificate of Professional Development awarded upon successful completion of the program.

Focuses on assessing, implementing, and evaluating dental assisting care. Develops clinical competency and skills, and expands performance. Weeks 1-8: in-class lecture/lab at UH Maui College, Laulima (lecture) and Noii Buildings (lab). Weeks 2-8: Clinical rotations to be arranged at dental offices (currently scheduled on Wednesdays, but schedule may be adjusted to accommodate dental office and participant schedules).

Textbooks will be provided during the course at no cost, but you may elect to purchase your own copy. We recommend reviewing the books in the first class and you can decide then if you want to purchase one (e.g. thru Amazon).
 
Scrubs are required and will also be provided by the program, or you may purchase your own in advance (any color). Participants must also wear close-toed/non-slip shoes for safety reasons.
