Course Description

Kapi`olani Community College will provide a unique 8-day Intensive English and Hawaiian Culture Program for the participants of RI District 2740 Sasebo Rotary Club.  This program will introduce high school students to an in-depth learning of Hawaiian Culture and Cross-Cultural Awareness, while improving their English communication skills.  This program includes various lectures and site visits to significant places such as Hawai`i Plantation Village, I`olani Place, Kamehameha V Judiciary Center, and USS Missouri.

SLOs:

1).  Describe the basic principles and concepts of Hawaiian Culture;

2).  Describe cultural values of Hawai`i,

and,

3).  Apply the knowledge of English language concepts and skills in actual classroom setting
