INTL3086 - Intensive Hawaiian Food Culture Program-STP2019 OIU (HIC)
Course Description
Kapi`olani Community College through OCET-INTL Short Term Program (STP) will provide a unique 3-day Intensive Hawaiian Food Culture Program for the students of Osaka International University (OIU). This program is designed for the students to understand food culture in Hawai`i through various activities. The students will learn about the traditional and modern food culture in Hawai`i, farm products distribution, current issues on nutrition and Hawaiian cuisine. The students of OIU will extend their horizons and prepare themselves to work as food related professionals such as dietitian(s) with internal perspectives.

By the end of the program, the students will be able to:
1). Identify the differences on food culture between Hawai`i and Japan
2). Describe Hawaiian farm products and its distribution
3). Define current issue on nutrition
4). Demonstrate preparing a few items of Hawaiian cuisine

b). Hawaiian History/Values/Hospitality Workshop
c). Waialua Estate Coffee and Chocolate Farm Visit
d). Lecture on Current Issues on Nutrition
e). Farmer's Market Visit
f). Hands-on Cooking Workshop
