Course Description

Ho'okipa me ke Aloha (Hospitality with Aloha) 

This modular training program based on the Hawaiian culture is designed to help participants develop a greater appreciation for our host culture and traditions. From learning about the Ahupua'a land management concept to the roles and responsibilities within an 'Ohana, participants will increase their knowledge of fundamental Hawaiian history, culture, values, and language, as well as learn to apply this knowledge to best exemplify "Hospitality with Aloha".

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: 

  1. Learn the basic elements of Hawaiian language and culture for the hospitality industry. 
  2. Gain a basic understanding of the ahupua'a, Hawaii's land management system. 
  3. Identify Hawaiian values and understand their importance in serving the customer. 
  4. Recognize your personal and organizational contribution to teamwork, collaboration and cooperation.
