Course Description

Kapi`olani Community College dates its founding to 1946. The webinar, "Back in the Day: 1946 Facts and Throwback" sets a stage for what was happening at that time in Hawai`i.

Speaker Bio:

Bob Sigall is the author of the five The Companies We Keep books and writes the popular Rearview Mirror column in the Honolulu Star Advertiser each Friday. He is Hawaii’s “business historian.” His books and columns tell amazing stories about well-known Hawaii people, places, and companies. Bob taught marketing and management at Hawaii Pacific University for 15 years, and with the help of his students, has researched and written the five bestselling The Companies We Keep books. Since April 2011, he has written a weekly column in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser called Rearview Mirror.

Kiersten Faulkner is the Chief Executive Director of the Historic Hawai‘i Foundation and oversees all aspects of its preservation programs, strategic planning, business lines and operational matters. Prior to joining HHF in 2006, Faulkner was a Senior City Planner for the City & County of Denver. She holds a Master of Arts in Urban and Environmental Policy from Tufts University and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).

Keith Kashiwada is a Professor of Speech at Kapi`olani Community College.

By the end of the webinar, the participants will be able to:

• State the year that Kapi`olani CC was founded.

• Describe at least five major facts about 1946.
