Course Description

Students will learn the definition of massage therapy, its evolution and historical aspects, and the role and scope of the massage therapist.  A general overview of common massage therapy modalities will be covered as well as State and national regulations for massage therapy education and employment. 

Learner Outcomes

  • Demonstrate understanding of the scope of practice, ethical considerations, and definition of massage therapy.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of major historical events as it relates to the evolution of modern practice of massage therapy.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge and differentiation of various common massage modalities and their specific benefits.
  • Demonstrate understanding of State and national laws and regulations governing massage therapy education and employment.

ALL STUDENTS MUST PAY FOR LIABILITY INSURANCE WHEN REGISTERING FOR THE INTRO TO MASSAGE THERAPY COURSE.
