Course Description
This course encompasses abnormal behavior patterns with special needs, empathy for terminally ill patients, support groups for terminally ill patients, patient advocacy, developmental stages of life, heredity, culture and environment utilizing a didactic method of instructions.Learner Outcomes
Student Learning Objectives (SLOs):A. Define and explain abnormal behavior patterns.
B. Identify and respond appropriately when working and caring for patients with special needs.
C. Consistently demonstrate empathy when treating terminally ill patients and providing support.
D. List organizations or support groups that can assist patients and families struggling with terminal illness.
E. Identify common stage that terminally ill patients and their families experience.
F. Advocate on behalf of patients and family regarding concerns and processes that accompany managed care
G. Communicate appropriately as an ombudsman for the patient and translate concerns to the provider(s).
H. Identify and discuss developmental stages of life.
I. Analyze the effect of heredity, culture and environmental influences.
