Course Description

Whether learning to cook at home or going away to college, this week-long class will have something for students at all skill levels. 

KCC Chef Alan Tsuchiyama will be teaching students fundamental cooking principles and techniques.  Every day, students will tackle new dishes and techniques.  Students will also learn proper kitchen safety and sanitation practices. Kitchen tools and equipment will be provided.  A visit to a Lo'i or sustainable food source will be included.  A waiver release will be required.  Please let the coordinator know of any food allergies in advance.  

As a safety precaution, participants in all culinary classes are required to wear covered, non-slip shoes (e.g., athletic shoes) and comfortable long pants.  Aprons or any other personal items may also be brought to class. The college will not be held responsible if such items are lost or stolen.

Learner Outcomes

Students will learn to interpret recipes and use standard kitchen tools and cooking techniques to produce home style dishes.
