Course Description
Kapi`olani Community College and the Hawai`i State Judiciary are collaborating together to offer a specialized Court Interpreter training program. There will be 12 on-line synchronous sessions with a final in-person four-hour session to evaluate the students' understanding of the content and demonstration of their interpreting skills. There is a significant shortage of Court Interpreters statewide. This program is designed to prepare students for a Tier 1 level job. After one year, successful interpreters may advance to higher level Tiers based on performance and need for specific foreign language interpretation.Course Outline

1. Possess the ability to speak both English and a non-English language fluently2. Have access to equipment to computer and wifi/internet
3. Should NOT have already attended and received completion of the Hawai `i State Judiciary Basic Orientation Workshop for Court Interpreters (BOW)
