Course Description

The UHMC Nail Technician course provides comprehensive training, starting with foundational skills in standard nail services like manicures (including hand and nail treatments) and pedicures (with foot treatments). Students advance to applying various artificial nail enhancements, mastering techniques for acrylics, gel nails, and sculptured nails.

Beyond basic application, the curriculum emphasizes artistic and technical proficiency. This includes dedicated instruction in nail art techniques, an understanding of color theory relevant to nail design, and a grasp of the fundamental techniques that underpin all professional nail services.

With essential background knowledge, ensuring students are well-versed in product knowledge—understanding the materials they work with—and adhere to critical health and safety protocols for client and technician well-being.

The course looks towards future careers by incorporating professional development elements. Students gain insights into business skills applicable to salon employment or entrepreneurship, alongside practical marketing strategies.

UHMC's program is designed to cultivate well-rounded nail technicians who possess technical expertise, artistic creativity, a strong awareness of safety and product standards, and the foundational business acumen required for success in the beauty industry.
