Course Description

This is an entry-level course designed to train students for immediate employment as optometry assistants.  A UH-Kapiʻolani Community College Certificate of Competence will be provided to those who complete the course successfully.  

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate an understanding of the day-to-day functions, capabilities, personnel, and work-flow of an optometric practice.
2. Demonstrate an understanding of the office principles utilized by optometric personnel (paraoptometrics).
3. Demonstrate an understanding of the process for assisting doctors and patients.
4. Demonstrate preparation for the CPO Exam.
