Course Description

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) RiderCoach Preparation Course is designed to prepare a well-skilled, safety-motivated motorcyclist to become a MSF Certified RiderCoach. The primary objective of the certification course is to prepare students to conduct The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF Basic RiderCourse as well as other specialized courses and modules of The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Rider Education and Training System (MSF RETS). The course consists of both classroom and practical range training, practice coaching, administration, assessment, emergency procedures, and evaluation techniques. The MSF RETS is based upon the principles of adult learning. Participants will receive training on how to conduct training in an adult learning environment.

(The tuition for our MSF RiderCoach certification course is $920. If you successfully complete the training, get hired as an instructor at Leeward Community College, and teach at least three courses within your first three months, you’ll receive a $700 scholarship to help offset your tuition cost. This is your chance to develop professional coaching skills, gain hands-on experience, and make a positive impact on the riding community—while reducing your out-of-pocket expenses.)

Learner Outcomes

  • A RiderCoach Preparation Course (RCP) is a set of activities designed to prepare a well-skilled, safety-motivated motorcyclist for becoming nationally certified as a RiderCoach.
  • The primary objective of the RCP is to prepare motorcyclists to conduct the Basic RiderCourse curriculum.  Beyond this primary objective, successful RiderCoaches should have the skills to be able to conduct other specialized courses and programs in the MSF RiderEducation and Training System (MSF RETS).
  • RiderCoach Candidates must meet the MSF minimum criteria through formal knowledge and skill assessments.  Attendance is required for all formal classroom and range sessions.
