COM2147 - Certified Fiber Characterization Engineer (CFCE)
Course Description
CFCE is a five-day globally recognized certification course on understanding optical fiber network infrastructure and impairments that affect high-speed network performance from optical loss to dispersion. It is a mix of theory, exercises, and practical lab work. In addition to class discussions, you will work in smaller groups to fully characterize a fiber link, document and analyze test results. Each participant will submit a report summarizing the link and what it can support. The course culminates with a final exam.At the end of the course, you will understand the challenges of testing fiber infrastructure and learn valuable skills in comprehensive testing and troubleshooting. Those who pass the exam and course project achieve CFCE (Certified Fiber Characterization Engineer) certification. If you complete the course without qualifying at the engineering level, you will achieve CFCT (Certified Fiber Characterization Technician) certification.
This course is most beneficial to those who wish to develop or improve skills and understanding in advanced fiber infrastructure testing - this includes technicians or engineers in outside or inside plant, managers and business owners. Typical clients include telecom, multiple service operators (MSOs), data center interconnect service providers, large private network owners, engineering and test contractors, utilities, government and military agencies.
