Course Description

An applied approach to Hawaiian traditions and cultural practices. May be repeated for credit, up to 6 credits, provided that a different topic is studied.

Enrollment in this course through EDvance is a non-credit option, however, course is available for credit. In order to receive college credit, participants must successfully complete course with a "C" or better. Students should inform instructor at start of semester if they want a grade to be issued.

Preference is given to credit students.

Participants will be trained in various aspects of the kīpaepae - pahu (drum), pū (triton shell), kīhei (ceremonial garb), hula, and haʻiʻōlelo (speech).
