Course Description
The first step toward becoming a licensed Security Guard in Hawaii is to complete this state-approved training. Begin a rewarding career helping to ensure the safety of your community.
There are no requirements to sign up for this course, however, there are licensing requirements set forth by the state. You just need to be at least 18 years of age, possess a high school education or its equivalent, and pass a criminal history record check (pursuant to HRS section 463-10.5). Course Outline
Prior to employment as a guard, it is a state mandate to meet certain training requirements. These training requirements include successful completion of an initial eight hour classroom instruction preceding the first day of employment and four hours of classroom training every three years. In accordance with HRS Chapter 463-7 (ACT 208), persons who act in a guard capacity (guards, agents, operatives, and assistants) and are employed by private businesses, guard agencies, or government agencies, must register with the Board of Private Detectives and Guards. Participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion of this 8-hour comprehensive training program to meet the state security guard training requirements.
