Course Description

Always wanted to 'hit the gym', but were intimidated once you got there?

If so, then you will want to be a part of a group of fitness-oriented folks and learn a little about the science and art of weight training.

You will learn about muscles and how to properly lift wweights. 

Learner Outcomes

1. Understand and demonstrate correct technique in weight lifting.

2. Identify which lifts strengthen each muscle of the body.

3. Select and use exercises that can be done for an at-home workout during the holiday season. 

Prerequisites

If you are recovering from a knee, back, shoulder or neck injury; you will need a physician's clearance to participate in the class.

Section Notes

* Intermediate Weight Training - Monday/Wednesday - 3:15-4:30 pm (January 12 - May 11) - 15.5 weeks (no class on 1/19, 2/16, 3/16, 3/18)

This course is designed to help students identify and understand the benefits of weight training, how weight training affects the body, and learn intermediate-level training routines for complete muscular development. Students will also learn how to design and develop a balanced weight training program to meet their needs and expand on skills learned in Beginning Weight Training.

You must have already taken Beginning Weight Training in order to take this class. (limit 12 students)
