Course Description

This course is intended for people who want to become Hawai’i Department of Education (HIDOE) substitute teachers in elementary, middle/intermediate, and/or high schools (K-12). Students who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of completion, and will be eligible to apply to become a HIDOE substitute teacher. Merely completing the course does not guarantee employment as a substitute teacher with the HIDOE.

Course Outline

Prerequisites

1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Program approval. *Note that the HIDOE prioritizes the hire of substitute teachers who already possess a Bachelor's degree or higher, but it is not required. Upon completion of the course, you must then apply to become a substitute teacher with the HIDOE.
