Course Description

his non-credit section of Hawaiian Music Performance 1 provides an inclusive environment for community members and non-students to develop instrumental and vocal performance skills with Hawaiian repertoire. The eight-week course covers fundamental basic music theory, individual and group performance, and is open to performers and aspiring performers of all levels. The session concludes with a group performance.

Course Outline

Objectives:

  • Continue to develop instrumental and vocal technique and basic music literacy
  • Continue to develop performance skills, develop repertoire, and foster collaboration through rehearsals and performances.

Topics:

  • Instrumental performance, vocal performance, Hawaiian music repertoire

Assessment:

  • Participation and final group performance
