Course Description
The Fashion Incubator program is a five-part series that helps aspiring designers and entrepreneurs turn their creative ideas into a viable fashion- or accessories-based business.
In Part One, students will expand their sewing skills and knowledge of garment construction through hands-on projects and instruction in mass production sewing and cutting techniques. Part Two will investigate textile properties to inform fabric choices and examine garment construction—both essential for manufacturing high-quality, marketable products.
Part Three focuses on the fundamental drawing techniques of vector illustration graphics in Adobe Illustrator, with specific emphasis on practical applications in tech pack creation for clothing production.
Part Four, Clothing Production, covers industry knowledge including sourcing, timelines, costing, and developing relationships with garment manufacturers both locally and offshore.
Finally, the Brand Development section guides students in developing their brand vision and story, identifying a target market and customer profile, and creating a business plan with sales and marketing strategy, along with start-up essentials such as business licensing, basic accounting, and taxes.
The course culminates in a final pitch presentation, where students showcase their brand strategy and products. Graduates will leave with a refined brand concept, enhanced technical skills, and a strategic roadmap for their business.
