Course Description

Course Description:This non-credit section of Music Recording Technology develops an understanding of history and application of electronics in musical composition and performance. Over eight weeks, participants will explore the basics of music recording in Maui College’s ʻApo Leo Learning Studio. No prior experience is necessary.

Course Outline

Objectives:

Learn fundamental concepts of sound, signal flow, and digital audio workstations (DAWs)
Gain hands-on experience with recording techniques, microphones, and studio equipment
Develop skills in basic mixing and audio post-production

Topics:

Principles of sound, signal flow, microphone techniques, DAW fundamentals, basic mixing, and final project

Assessment:

Participation and final recording project
