Course Description

Part C, construction of hives, assembling woodenware/equipment. This is the third in a series four, 5 hour, non credit courses (A, B, C and D) to provide the student introductory information on keeping bees in Hawaii. In Part C. Students will learn to build hives from locally obtained materials. Students will also learn to assemble woodenware/equipment that can not be locally sourced from hardware stores.

Notes

The goal of this course is to provide the beginning beekeeper a small glimpse of the commitment needed to begin working with bees and should the student, then want to further training and learn more, they should consider taking the semester length courses in introductory beekeeping (AG 162) and advance beekeeping (Ag 163) that are taught regularly at UHMC Agriculture and Natural Resources Dept.
