ART6300 - Acting 101 Class A-Z

Course Description

This course prepares you with the tools required to break through in an acting career.  

This course teaches students:

• information, techniques and procedures needed to learn basic acting skills, scene work, script readings, create a resume, how to audition, how to get a headshot and acting reel
• Interactive learning takes place as new information and skill sets are studied throughout the course.

This course provides a strong foundation for those considering a career as an Actor

Course Prerequisites:

1. Cell phone with editing program
2. Good internet connection
3. Laptop or pc for Zoom session

Course Outline

This course is divided into the following units:

• Introduction to Acting
• Scene Study Skills
• Actor's Access
• Headshots
• Acting Reel
• Audition 

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion of this course students will be able to:

1. Explore practical audition experience and career planning, including audition etiquette and protocol. 
2. Practice audition skills focusing on monologue selection and performance;
3. Perform cold readings;
4. Produce a self-tape or demo reel;
5. Participate in an actual audition.
