Course Description

The Advanced Security Pathway leading to Cyber Analytics is an intensive, dual-certification program designed to bridge the gap between foundational security knowledge and the specialized field of threat intelligence. This comprehensive training combines the core principles of CompTIA Security+ with the analytical rigor of CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+).

The curriculum begins by establishing a "Security First" mindset, covering the essential pillars of cybersecurity: threats, attacks, vulnerabilities, and identity management. Students will learn to install and configure systems to secure applications, networks, and devices against modern exploits.

In the second phase, the course shifts focus toward Cyber Analytics. Students will learn to utilize behavioral analytics and threat detection techniques to identify vulnerabilities, interpret data from security monitoring tools, and lead incident response efforts. By the end of this pathway, students will be equipped to not only identify security gaps but to proactively hunt for threats and orchestrate an enterprise-level defense through data-driven analysis.

Note on Certification: This course is a "Certification Prep" pathway. Tuition covers the cost of both the CompTIA Security+ and CompTIA CySA+ certification exam vouchers. Vouchers will be provided upon successful completion of the course requirements.

Key Learning Modules:

  • Infrastructure & Architecture: Designing secure network environments and implementing Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
  • Threat Intelligence & Management: Applying environmental reconnaissance techniques and analyzing the output of security tools.
  • Vulnerability Management: Implementing vulnerability scanning processes and analyzing results to prioritize remediation.

  • Cyber Analytics & Operations: Utilizing specialized security tools to perform data analysis and interpret monitoring results.
  • Incident Response & Recovery: Developing and executing incident response procedures, including forensic analysis and post-incident reporting.
  • Risk Management & Compliance: Summarizing the business impact of security risks and implementing best practices for organizational governance.

Prerequisites

To ensure success in this fast-paced, advanced-level pathway, students must meet the following requirements:

  1. Technical Foundation: Completion of CompTIA A+ and/or Network+ training/certification, or equivalent professional knowledge and experience.
  2. Professional Experience: It is highly recommended that students have at least two years of experience in IT administration with a focus on security, or a minimum of two years of hands-on experience in a technical support role.
  3. Core Competencies: Proficiency in networking concepts (TCP/IP, ports, and protocols) and familiarity with various operating systems (Windows, Linux, and MacOS) is required.
  4. Hardware Requirements: Access to a computer or laptop with a working camera and microphone, and a robust high-speed internet connection to support live Zoom lectures and virtual lab environments.
  5. Commitment: Ability to engage in significant independent self-study (estimated 10–15 hours per week) outside of scheduled synchronous class meetings.
