Course Description

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic RiderCourse Hawaii edition is approved for use by the Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) for Motorcycle Rider Education. Upon successful completion of the course, qualified students will be issued a licensing waiver for submission to Dept of Motor Vehicles.

Learner Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course participants will be able to: 1. Demonstrate basic motorcycle operation skills like inspecting, mounting, and start/stop engine. 2. Demonstrate fundamental riding skills such as riding in a straight line, turning, shifting, and braking. 3. Demonstrate street riding skills like swerving, maximum braking, advanced turning, and using hand signals. 4. Determine the proper operation of a motorcycle under normal, special and adverse riding conditions.
