Course Description

This course prepares for the CompTIA A+ certification exam. The CompTIA A+ certification exam verifies entry level IT skills including computer repair, software and operating systems, network administration, information security, cloud computing and troubleshooting of both desktop and mobile devices. Customer service and communication skills are also taught to effectively interact with other employees.

Students who successfully complete the course will be provided with an exam voucher.

Course Outline

A+ is a good starting point for entering a career in Information Technology as it provides foundational skills and knowledge. Topics include, hardware, operating systems, software troubleshooting, networking, security, mobile devices, virtualization and Cloud computing, and operational procedures. This course prepares you for the two parts of the CompTIA A+ certification. Although test prep for the certification exams is covered in class, additional study is needed.

Learner Outcomes

By the end of the course, the student will be able to:

  1. Research topics related to the designated certification.
  2. Identify key subjects, relevant data, and propose possible solutions.
  3. Review and recall materials related to the certification topic.
  4. Demonstrate competence and proficiency in the certification areas.

Prerequisites

1. Evidence of prior experience repairing or troubleshooting a non-functioning computer.

2. 1-2 years of experience working a command prompt.
