Course Description

CompTIA Linux+ validates the skills administrators need to secure the enterprise, power the cloud and keep systems running. The new certification ensures that IT professionals, software developers, cybersecurity engineers and penetration testers have these necessary skills to support today's tech systems.

CompTIA Linux+ is the only job-focused Linux certification covering the latest foundational skills demanded by hiring managers. Unlike other certifications, the new exam includes performance-based and multiple-choice questions to identify the employees who can do the job. The exam covers tasks associated with all major distributions of Linux, setting the foundation for advanced vendor/distro-specific knowledge.

This updated Linux+ CompTIA certification was introduced on July 12, 2022. Jobs which use skills learned in this course include Linux, systems, and network administrators, technical support specialist, junior cloud engineer, junior DevOps support engineer, Web administrator/developer, and cybersecurity engineer.

At the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • Configure and manage software, storage and process and services
  • Understand best practices for permissions and authentication, firewalls, and file management
  • Create simple shell scripts and execute basic BASH scripts, version control using Git, and orchestration processes
  • Analyze system properties and processes and troubleshoot user, application, and hardware issues

This course is distance-delivered, guided by an instructor. It is a demanding, fast-paced course requiring independent study with many hours of readings and labs outside of class. The certification exam which is included in this training.

Course Outline

"CompTIA Linux+ validates the skills of IT professionals with hands-on experience configuring, monitoring, and supporting servers running the Linux operating system." The Linux open source operating system is used across business functions because of its flexibility and potential to facilitate innovation. Linux skills are desired in job areas ranging from Web developers to network administrators to device field engineers.

Learner Outcomes

At the end of this course, you will: 

  • Acquire open source concepts and progressively master Linux commands.
  • Understand how Linux is used and the basics of its command line.
  • Become skilled at using the Linux virtual machine for experiments.
  • Prepare for and take the CompTIA Linux+ certification exam. 

Prerequisites

1. Completion of CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications or equivalent knowledge.
2. Evidence of some Linux admin experience recommended.
3. Must have a computer/laptop with a microphone and camera and robust Internet.
