Course Description

Electricians License Renewal – Kauai Community College

Effective July 1, 1995, all electricians in categories EJ, EJI, EJS, ES, ESI, and ESS (Maintenance Electricians – EM category are exempt from this requirement) will need to complete a continued competency requirement and pay the applicable fees in order to renew their license. The deadline to renew your license is June 30, 2023. Failure to renew your license by paying the applicable fee and meeting the continued competency requirement shall constitute a forfeiture of the license effective July 1, 2023. A forfeited license does not allow you to perform electrical work. You have one year from June 30, 2023, to restore your license. If you fail to restore your license by June 30, 2024, you will need to reapply as a new applicant.

For information on the renewal process call the Licensing Branch of the Department of Commerce & Consumer Affairs at 586-3000 or visit: https://cca.hawaii.gov/pvl/ select “Electricians and Plumbers FAQs” for information on meeting continued competency requirements.

Notes

COVID Policies:  PLEASE Read!!!

Kaua‘i Community College is committed to ensuring the health and safety of our faculty, staff, and students. UH’s COVID-19 policies apply to Kauai Community College’s Office of Continuing Education and Training students.

As of January 3, 2022, all students who plan to be on campus must be fully vaccinated OR have an approved medical or religious exemption. All students attending IN-PERSON classes must check in to the UH LumiSight App each time they come to campus. Students who are not vaccinated must be approved for an exemption from the COVID-19 vaccination; exemption requests must be submitted at least 10 business days prior to the first day of class. Students with approved exemptions must also test weekly and submit those results via the UH LumiSight App.

More information can be found on the University of Hawai’i, COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement for Students FAQs page.

EXEMPTION REQUESTS:

OVPCC Academic Affairs created a new form and workflow for noncredit students requesting a COVID vaccination exemption request. Students may submit a request prior to or after registration. However, the request must be submitted 10 days prior to the first day of class. OVPCC Academic Affairs will evaluate the requests within 3-5 days. Students will be notified of the outcome of their request. Campuses will receive a notification when a student has been approved for an exemption.

Students who have an approved exemption must submit weekly COVID test results to UH via the UH LumiSight App. Students are responsible for their own testing.

The COVID-19 Guidelines for the 10 campuses of the UH System have been updated. The updates include the latest guidance to align with current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention mask and quarantining guidelines.

Masks: Masks are still required at all times indoors on UH campuses or facilities. KN95, KF94, or N95 masks are not required but encouraged where possible. Gaiters are not acceptable masks.

All masks should be well-fitted, which means the mask:

  • Has a nose wire to crimp down on top of the nose
  • Has at least 2 or more layers of washable fabric (for cloth masks)
  • Covers both the nose and mouth entirely
  • Fits snugly against the sides of your face without gaps

Masks are not required outdoors but are strongly recommended when in crowded situations or where it is difficult to maintain physical distance. For more, see the Personal Safety Practices section.

Quarantine and isolation guidelines:

If you are up to date with your vaccinations, including a booster shot, you do not need to quarantine if you are identified as a close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 and are asymptomatic.

If you test positive for COVID-19, you must be isolated for a minimum of 5 days, regardless of vaccination status. If you are also symptomatic, you may return on day 6 if your symptoms are improving and you have had no fever for 24 hours without using any fever-reducing medicine.

For more information, see the Personal Safety Practices section of our COVID-19 policies

Boosters strongly recommended:  While vaccination rates are high among the UH community, as seen in the UH COVID-19 Dashboards, we strongly recommend that everyone receive a COVID-19 vaccine booster as soon they become eligible. Emerging evidence shows that boosters are effective in preventing serious illness and hospitalization from all circulating variants. Those who have received a booster can also avoid quarantine if identified as close contact with someone who tests positive.

To schedule a booster dose and for more information, visit the Hawai‘i COVID-19 Vaccine website

Kaua`i Community College is committed to providing all students with equitable access to its programs and services. For disability accommodations, contact our Disabilities Services Coordinator at (808) 245-8314. Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to contact our Disabilities Services Coordinator well before the registration deadline to provide ample time to review and verify requests.
