Course Description

Meetings take time. Meetings matter. We discuss things that are critical to our daily work lives and make decisions that affect our work this week, this month, this year, and years ahead. Meetings help determine what kind of place we will be working in. You bet they matter! In this class, you will learn how to make meetings both efficient and effective and thus gain enormous power in controlling our work environment and the future of our organization.

Learner Outcomes

The participant will: 1) Learn how to prepare for a meeting, including: learning the four principle meetings, to determine which one is appropriate for each situation; understand when a meeting is needed and when it is not; how to select participants; and how to prepare an agenda.

2) Learn how to conduct the actual meeting, including: how to get participants engaged, how to keep a meeting on track and how to push for closure. 3) Learn what to do after the meeting to ensure forward progress is made. These skills will be assessed during the class through hands-on activities, an by the student in their daily work life.
