TRAD4101 - HEV/EV Preventative Maintenance and Repair
Course Description
Course description
This course is designed to familiarize the student with Hybrid and Electric vehicle safety, and system isolation of the Electric Machine and Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) to perform testing and maintenance procedures. Hands-on training to identify, disable and test for high voltage. Prepare vehicle for diagnostic testing and perform oil pressure checks, cooling system testing, and cylinder compression testing.
Course Outline
Specific course objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify safety procedures while working on high voltage systems.
- Locate high voltage service plug using available service information.
- Identify high voltage cables or wires by its color.
- Locate high voltage system components.
- Demonstrate the proper method for disabling a high voltage system on an HEV.
- Select proper analysis tools while performing basic checks and servicing high voltage vehicles.
- Test the high voltage system voltage level using a digital volt meter.
- Prepare vehicle to Service ICE lubrication
- Test ICE cooling system
- Prepare vehicle for diagnostic testing on the ICE
- Perform oil pressure test on variable valve system/cylinder deactivation system
- Perform cylinder compression active and manual test
- Perform active power balance test
