Course Description

Mission: A Call to Action to Build the Workforce Capacity in the Long-Term Care Setting

Purpose: 1) To develop a comprehensive strategy to increase Hawaii's workforce capacity that provides care for kupuna in long term care settings, specifically nursing facilities, care homes and foster homes. 2) for all participants to come away with 1 or 2 things they can do now in their sphere of influence that will advance the workforce capacity.

Who: We are bringing together leaders in government, policy makers, healthcare organizations, educators,  as well as caregivers, students, directors of nursing and administrators of long-term care facilities, care home organizations, home and community based organizations, and other stakeholders. 

How:  There will be 4 parts to this forum.  1) We will begin with a panel  of leaders who will provide an overview of the current status of the workforce shortage through different perspectives, 2) a panel of experts will share current initiatives,  3) breakout groups to discuss barriers and solutions, and 4) an open forum to share these challenges and ideas.
