Course Description

A 100-hour state approved Nurse Assistant program allowing students to take the Hawaii state exam. Upon passing the course the student can sit for the state exam allowing them to become a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). IslandCPR's instructor, Annette Carr, is a trained vocational educator with over 20 years of experience as a RN and brings a wealth of knowledge to the course.

Course Outline

The training will cover topics in basic nursing skills, personal care skills, mental health and social service needs, basic restorative services, and resident's rights.

Prerequisites

  • Current two step TB test
  • Current year's flu shot
  • COVID-19 (Must satisfy one): 1) Full vaccination or 2) Two weeks from receiving first dose of vaccine or 3) PCR testing prior to in facility portion
  • Be 18 years or older (or turning 18 by the completion of the course)
  • Have a state ID
  • High school diploma / GED or can show basic reading and math skills
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) course (Basic life support must be finished PRIOR to final if students are not current or have not taken BLS.)
During the course students will be required to pass:
  • A drug test
  • Background check

Students are required to wear scrubs and closed-toe shoes to all classes.
