Course Description
IslandCPR's Phlebotomy course is a 50-hour course designed to bring students' education to the next level after completing either a Medical Assistant course or Nurse Assistant course. This course can be done in person, or a blended learning option where students can self-pace through pre-recorded lectures (each having homework assignments) followed by in person lab work. Students must complete a total of 10 capillary sticks and 30 venipuncture live sticks prior to being eligible to take the national exam with NHA. Following the national exam they become Certified Phlebotomy Technicians (CPT's).

Course Outline
Our Certified Phlebotomy Technician program is a 50-hour course to take you to a specialist level as a phlebotomist after completing either a Medical Assistant course or Nurse Assistant course.

Prerequisites
- It is highly recommended to have completed either a Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Nurse Aide (CNA) course prior to taking the Phlebotomy Technician course to have a basic background in medical knowledge before taking a CPT course.
- Background in medical work or training also fulfills this requirement.
- If you do not have a background in medical training, have not taken a CCMA or CNA class we suggest you START with these courses than take a Phlebotomy course which is specialized training. Not sure you're ready? We are always available to talk!
- Students must have a Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from AHA card or obtain certification during the course.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
