Course Description

Our Medical Assistant program is a 70-hour program created with the needs of Hawaii Island clinics and doctors offices in mind. IslandCPR’s program was the first on Hawaii Island accredited through NHA allowing students to become Certified Clinical Medical Assistants (CCMA’s) following their training.

The program can be completed live or through a blended learning approach where students can self-pace through pre-recorded lectures (each having homework assignments) followed by in person lab work.

The Medical Assistant program includes a mini medical terminology course prior to jumping into the main Medical Assistant course.  The main course covers medical office administrative tasks, an introduction to medical billing and coding, overview of pharmacology, pharmacology math and administering medications, fundamentals of clinical medical assistant including patient assessment vitals and infection controls as well as venipuncture, urinalysis, EKG and more!

The Medical Assistant program is a 70-hour course covering administrative as well as clinical medical assistant skills.

Prerequisites

1) Students must have acquired a high school diploma or GED.
2) Prior to class or during class students must complete a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
