Course Description
The UHMC Nursing Program is committed to provide classroom, laboratory and clinical learning to prepare graduates for entry into the nursing workforce. Our aim is to inspire lifelong personal and professional development, and maintain efficient educational pathways that build on biological and behavioral sciences with an emphasis on nursing code of ethics, effective communication, and evidence-based nursing practice. We envision an educational program that produces caring, competent, and professional nurses prepared to meet the healthcare demands of a diverse community and the challenges of a dynamic healthcare environment. Learning outcomes include: demonstrate professional actions based on core nursing values, professional standards of practice, and the law, develop insight through reflective practice, self-analysis, and self-care, engage in ongoing self-directed learning and provides care based on evidence supported by research, demonstrate leadership in nursing and health care, collaborate as part of a healthcare team, practice within, utilize and contribute to the broader health care system, practice client-centered care, communicate effectively, demonstrate clinical judgment/critical thinking in the delivery of care to clients while maintaining safety.

Prerequisites
Only admitted students in the UHMC Nursing Program may enroll in this program with prereqs completed (PHYL 141, PHYL 141L, PHYL 142, PHYL 142L, HDFS 230, MICR 130, ENG 100, Humanities Elective, MATH 100 or higher)
