Course Description

Kapiolani Community College will provide a unique 1-day Intensive Hawaiian Culture Program for the participants of Jikei Group Hygiene Schools organized by Meitetsu World Travel Inc. Ginza Sales Office. This training program will focus on Hawaiian history, culture and values and Hawaiian music and hula. 

Kapi‘olani Community College will provide a unique 3 days Intensive Dental Hygienist and Hawaiian Culture Program for the participants of Shin Tokyo Dental Hygienist School, Tokyo College of Medico-Pharmaco Technology and Nihon College of Health Care Services. This program focuses on dental hygienists education and responsibilities. The students will be introduced general dental care in Hawai‘i; Dental Hygienist Education including curriculum, requirement and certification, and daily practice and responsibility of dental hygienists in Hawai‘i. This program is specially designed to help students of Shin Tokyo Dental Hygienist School, Tokyo College of Medico-Pharmaco Technology and Nihon College of Health Care Services on extending their horizons and preparing to work as a dental hygienist with international perspectives.

Learner Outcomes

By the end of program, the students will be able to:

1) Identify the difference between the Dental Hygienist education in Hawaii and that in Japan

2) Compare responsibilities of dental hygienists in Hawaii and that in Japan.

3) Describe importance of professional development as dental hygienist

By the end of the program, the students will be able 

  • Demonstrate examples of Hawaiian culture
