Course Description

To give older adults the best care possible, and for you to be the best caregiver that you can be, it is important to understand the nature of the aging process. Developed for paraprofessionals who work with, or want to work with, older adults, The Paraprofessionals in Aging Project (PAP) will provide you with a realistic picture of aging and give you a sense of what it is like to be an older person and in need of help on a day-to-day basis. Paraprofessionals may include elder care aides, adult day care assistants, meals-on-wheels workers, certified nurse aides, chore workers, hospice volunteers, and more. Join Dr. Michael Cheang, DrPH, Assistant Professor and Assistant Director at the University of Hawaii at Manoa Center on Aging and co-author of this program, for this invaluable training on the aging process, caregiving, and the diversity among older people.
