Course Description

This 2-hour workshop offers a hands-on introduction to Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging. In this brief yet immersive session, participants will learn the fundamental principles of Ikebana, including balance, simplicity, and the use of space in creating harmonious arrangements. Guided by an experienced instructor, students will explore various styles of Ikebana and gain practical knowledge of selecting and arranging flowers with mindful attention. Whether you're a beginner or looking to deepen your appreciation for this art form, this workshop provides a unique opportunity to connect with nature, express creativity, and create your own beautiful floral design to take home.

Learner Outcomes

1. Cut, shape, and arrange flowers, branches, and assorted plants at the beginner, intermediate, or advanced level following the rules and techniques of different Ikebana styles, such as the Misho School's Shinka (New) style, traditional (Kakubana) style etc. 

Notes

The Intro to Ikebana class will introduce a variety of Ikebana styles including traditional and new styles. Each class will offer students a different style of flower arrangement. Please check each class for details and see what you need to bring for the workshop.

Traditional Ikebana (Kakubana) Workshop: The Art of Japanese Floral Arrangement

Participants will explore the essential techniques for creating elegant floral arrangements, guided by the concept of expressing natural beauty through the careful placement of flowers, branches, and other elements.

Whether you're a beginner or an experienced enthusiast, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to cultivate mindfulness and creativity while mastering the fundamentals of Ikebana. Take home your own thoughtfully crafted arrangement to enjoy, and deepen your appreciation for the aesthetic beauty of nature.

No prior experience is necessary. Come ready to connect with nature and create something beautiful!

For this class, you will need a tall ceramic vase (min 18' in height and 4" in diameter), (glass vase not recommended), then you can bring home your arrangement. If you cannot find the tall vase, the instructor has 6 tall vases available for students to practice in class as well.
