Course Description

While OSHA requires employers to provide fire safety training, the specifics of the training are left up to the individual company.

An effective fire safety training program should drive home these facts: fires are common, deadly and preventable.  The primary intent of this fire safety program is to increase awareness of fire hazards and instill in employees proper emergency response behavior.

After training employees should be able to:
  • Explain how a fire starts
  • Recognize and identify some common ignition sources and flammable materials in the workplace
  • Know the steps to take in case of a fire; and
  • Know the basics of using a portable fire extinguisher.
