Course Description

Heartsaver First Aid with CPR and AED is designed for non-professional responders who are required to have First Aid, CPR, and AED training. This course gives you the skills to save a life. You will learn First Aid, CPR, and AED skills for adults, children, and infants so you can effectively respond to sudden emergencies, until help arrives.

Learner Outcomes

  1. Understand basic first aid, including rescuer duties, victim and rescuer safety, getting help, identifying the problem, and post emergency actions.
  2. Know how to provide first aid for medical emergencies, including breathing problems, choking, allergic reactions, heart attacks, fainting, low blood sugar levels, seizures and shock.
  3. Know how to provide first aid for injury emergencies including visible and invisible bleeding, wounds, head, neck, and spine injuries, broken bones and sprains, and burns and electrical injuries.
  4. Know how to provide first aid for environmental emergencies including bites and stings, temperature induced emergencies such as heat exhaustion, heat stroke, frostbite, and hypothermia, and poisons.
  5. Understand when and how to provide CPR for adults, children, and infants.
  6. Understand when and how to use AEDs for adults and children.
  7. Identify the signs of  choking and how to help a choking child and infant.
