Course Description

The Professional Update & Advancement (PUA) program prepares dental assistants for the national Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) examination offered by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB). The statewide program is open to those already working as a dental assistant with approval from their employers to enroll. All interested students must attend a scheduled information.

Course Outline

The Professional Update & Advancement (PUA) program prepares dental assistants for the national Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) examination offered by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) and reviews skills and knowledge needed in the dentistry practice. This statewide program is open to those already working as a dental assistant with approval from their employers to enroll. A passing grade of 70% minimum is needed to earn the certificate of competence.

Prerequisites

To qualify for this course, all students will need to be currently employed as a dental assistant at a dentistry facility with approval to enroll from their immediate supervisor.
