Course Description

Hands-On Welding Basics

Learn how to TIG, MIG, arc, or gas weld as the schedule permits. You will first review basic safety procedures, equipment set-up, proper use and care of equipment and welding techniques before welding. Schedule your 20 hours of instruction during the following dates and hours. Please remember to bring the required tools to the first class meeting. (Preparation for D1.1 Welding Test and Welding D1.1 Test are only 6 hours long.)

Welding Fundamentals (Aligned to HCC WELD 152)

Fundamentals of oxyacetylene and arc welding. Proper use and operation of oxyacetylene equipment. Operation and use of various types of welding machines. Electrode identification and arc welding terminology. Welding on carbon steel in the flat position. This course is aligned to HCC WELD152.
