Course Description

Join us on a culinary journey that will introduce you to the exotic flavors of the Middle East. Each class will offer select dishes that are popular from Casablanca to Esfahan. Your teacher will be Chef Magdy Elzoheiry, a native of Alexandria, Egypt. An esteemed KCC culinary graduate, Chef Magdy has worked at several popular local restaurants, including Hajibaba and The Pyramids. 

Course Outline

You know those big chunks of beef in the store that aren't steak? They're absolutely wonderful if you cook them properly. And for people in the Middle East, they know how to do it right. Chef Magdy will teach you a savory and sweet Moroccan beef tagine with apples and raisins, the from Egypt, a beef casserole with pearl onions and mushrooms, and from Iran, a delicious tangy beef and herb khoresh (stew). They're even better as left-overs, but you probably won't have any. 

Learner Outcomes

Students will learn to interpret recipes and use standard kitchen tools and cooking techniques to produce home style dishes.
