TRAD2017 - Electrical Technology Program - Journey Worker Electrician (EJ)
Course Description
This pathway will provide participants with the academic coursework required by Hawaii Revised Statute HRS 448E in order to be eligible to take the electrical journey worker licensing examination. In order to be eligible to sit for the EJ licensing exam with DCCA, participants must submit proof of completion of their academic coursework, along with at least 5 years and 10,000 hours of work experience. Participants will gain foundational skills in electrical safety as well as the required subjects in AC/DC theory, motors and motor control, NEC, and transformers. Upon successful completion of program students will be given a Certificate for submission to the DCCA.
Here’s a list of all the courses you will need to complete in order to meet the eligibility requirements for the electrical journey worker licensing examination. Courses must be taken in the order listed below (or based on instructor’s approval):

Grounding I

Motor Control
Transformers
Test Instruments
If you completed coursework from an educational institution and would like your coursework to be reviewed, please provide us with documentation such as:
- Transcripts from the institution you completed your coursework

Any other applicable documentation our subject matter experts can use to determine your curriculum equivalency are also welcomed.
The review process will take 3 - 4 weeks so please plan appropriately.
