Course Description

This course covers advanced knowledge and understanding of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, pathology, and contraindications as applied to massage therapy.  General practice of massage techniques while relating anatomical terms and landmarks.  Assessment of client conditions as it relates to massage therapy practice.

Learner Outcomes

  • Identify the functional relationship of the neuromuscular system.
  • Describe the cause and effect relationship of common musculoskeletal pathologies as it relates to massage therapy.
  • Relate pharmacology to pathological conditions presented in this course.
  • Demonstrate the appropriate application of ancillary therapies used in massage therapy.
  • Demonstrate advanced application and synthesis of information gained in YBYH 1, 2, and 3.
