Course Description

A recent survey of employers in Hawaii revealed the top 3 soft skills they found lacking in the current workforce are professionalism, effective communication in a global business economy, and organizational skills. Not only are these abilities essential to impressing your employers, they guarantee that you will add credibility to your personal career brand. These three courses will help you lay the foundation for critical skills that will carry you throughout your career.

Course Outline

Professionalism in the Workplace

What does it mean to be a "professional" in a global work environment? More importantly, do you exhibit professionalism in your daily business interactions? This course is designed to help you develop an understanding of how "professionalism" can impact buisnesses-from the quality of customer service, to teamwork and productivity and, ultimately, the profitability of a global organization. Additionally, you will learn to cultivate your own sense of professionalism in the workplace and how to define its characteristics depending on your chosen career path and industry.

Basic Communication in a Global Workplace

Hawaii's workforce is diverse and differences can lead to miscommunication and negatively impact working relationships. Make a difference in your career by learning to bridge the gap of understanding and communication. This class introduces you to different communication styles and how they are influenced by a variety of factors including culture, generation, and gender.

Organization Skills-Managing Time and Stress

Staying organized when there are so many demands on your time can be challenging! Individuals who perform at their highest level contribute positively to productivity in the workplace, but there is no "one size fits all" when it comes to time management. This course will help you determine which time and stress management process works best with your work style and preferences. Discover your own personal barriers to getting things organized and completed, and learn to conquer them with a customized system.
