Course Description

SLOs (for professional development or workforce training courses only)
1.  Understanding and appreciating: the importance of traditional Hawaiian fishponds to the Hawaiians.
2.  Why fishponds are important in the context of modern Western science.
3.  Understanding the interaction between human activities and the natural environment as it applies to fishponds.
4.  Understanding the challenges to and strategies for achieving sustainability (or economic viability) in the modern world based on
     the study of traditional Hawaiian fishponds.
5.  Identify the personal values and attitudes that can facilitate sustainable living.
6.  Demonstrate how concepts of sustainability are connected to local, regional and global issues.

Pre or Co-Requisites:  General high school biology.
